The power of words is undeniable, but what happens when you’re not allowed to use certain words in your art? Renowned poet Saurabh Jain Suman found himself in a difficult situation recently when he was stopped from reciting his poetry at an event just because he mentioned the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his poem.

According to Saurabh, the organizers told him that this was not a political stage where he could use the Prime Minister’s name or use politics, which led him to refuse to recite his poetry on stage. It’s a strange situation – after all, poets and artists have always used their art to express their opinions and beliefs.

The event was organized in memory of the father of the chairman, Moolchand Yadav, of that area. Saurabh was excited to recite his poetry and the audience seemed to be enjoying it until he mentioned the partition of India and suggested that if India had a brave man like today during that time, history would have been different.

But things took a turn for the worse when some members of the audience accused Saurabh of having a political agenda and being a part of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). They demanded that names like Narendra Modi or Yogi Adiyanath should not be used at the event.

The Chairman then intervened and asked Saurabh to recite a different poem, stating that taking the Prime Minister’s name was not allowed there. This outraged Saurabh, who refused to recite any further poems and walked off the stage.

Saurabh Jain Suman took to social media to express his disappointment, and his post quickly gained traction. He was later contacted by the District Magistrate (DM) and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), who asked him if he recognized any of the individuals who had stopped him from reciting his poetry. The matter is now under investigation, and Saurabh hopes that action will be taken against those responsible.

This incident has sparked a debate about the freedom of expression in India and whether individuals are allowed to express their opinions on public platforms.
