The movie Qala has been making waves with its perfect portrayal of the glamorous side of yesteryears. And, in its success must surely be acknowledged the role played by the music in capturing the mood.
Since, the movie followed a musician’s journey, the songs necessarily had to follow a certain flow. And, Sireesha Bhagavatula, who lives the maxim that music is the language of the soul, has played an integral role with her single-handed rendition of the movie’s song and has set netizens abuzz.
Sireesha Bhagavatula hails from Visakhapatnam and comes from an artistic background. Since, an early time, she has constantly treated music as a discipline, constantly pushing herself to perfect her abilities and craft her own style. And, from the melodies reminiscent of some immortal tracks of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, it is evident that Sireesha has obviously worked long and hard on her sur and sargam.
Sireesha’s musical journey started when she participated in Indian Idol Season 12 and soon debuted in playback singing with the song Mathare in the Tamil movie Bigil and Maanini in Telugu, both composed by AR Rahman.
Her career continued propitiously with performances in AR Rahman’s 99 songs, Sye song for PS1, and of course Qala. She also impressed the late singer SP Balasubramaniam at the tender age of 8 when she appeared at a reality show judged and hosted by him. Infact, SP Balasubramaniam and Sireesha were going to record a song. But, the legendary singer passed away due to Covid 19 before this could happen.
