The Role That Almost Slipped Away: Faisal Malik's Surprising Decision on Panchayat

Amazon Originals' web series 'Panchayat' has taken audiences on a heartwarming journey through the rustic charm of rural India. One of the standout performances in the series came from the talented actor Faisal Malik, who portrayed the endearing character of Prahlad, the loyal sidekick of the village head played by actor Raghubir Yadav. 

Faisal's authentic portrayal won him the prestigious Critic’s Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor, a proof to his exceptional talent. 

Interestingly, Faisal almost missed the opportunity to bring Prahlad to life on screen. Initially, he turned down the role due to time constraints and skepticism about the show's potential. However, the conviction of the writer and director, coupled with the support of the seasoned actors, convinced him to give it a shot. 

The chemistry among the cast members, especially with Raghubir Yadav, played a significant role in shaping Faisal's performance. 

The authenticity of the village backdrop depicted in 'Panchayat' has been a key element of the show's success. The team shoots in an actual village located 60km away from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, creating a genuine rural set. Despite extreme weather conditions, with temperatures soaring to 47-48 degrees Celsius during shooting, the team persevered to deliver a captivating and relatable narrative.

As fans eagerly await the third season, Faisal shared that the upcoming installment is expected to arrive in March 2024, with efforts to potentially release it earlier.
